Pre-operative Instructions

General Information

Please call the office one day prior to your appointment to reconfirm the time of your visit.

We kindly ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellation of appointments.

Preoperative Instructions for Sedation Anesthesia Patients:

(If you are having just local anesthesia, this does not apply)

  1. Do not eat ANY food for 6 hours prior to your procedure. Clear liquids such as water, tea, apple juice, white grape juice may be sipped in moderation up to 2 hours prior to your procedure. For the last 2 hours up to your procedure, EAT OR DRINK NOTHING.
  2. Wear comfortable loose clothing with a short sleeved shirt.
  3. Take your regular medications as well as any we prescribed for you with only a SMALL SIP OF WATER.
  4. During your appointment, you MUST have an adult escort over the age of 18 to stay on the premises in case of emergency.

After your procedure with Sedatives:

  1. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery, drink any alcohol, or make any important decisions for at least 24 hours after your anesthetic.
  2. Wait until any bleeding has stopped and the gauze is out of your mouth before sleeping. Sleeping with gauze in the mouth is a choking hazzard and may be life threatening.
